a few more thoughts: jk rowling is really still out here getting lauded as some amazing feminist when it was only after seeing a sexist tweet about theresa may (a white conservative woman) that she decided to speak up. for months she silently stood by and watched diane abbott (a leftist labour politician and the first black woman mp) be viciously attacked with racist and sexist insults thrown at her – largely from members of the same party theresa may represents. and now joanne suddenly claims to be disgusted by sexist abuse, but somehow she just couldn’t spare a tweet for diane in the weeks leading up to the election? is this because diane has always been a supporter of jeremy corbyn, someone joanne has actively trashed online herself? jk rowling really is the definition of neoliberal centrist white feminism. and that’s not the kind of feminism i think should be celebrated or admired.
